COMING UP: at George Fox, Saturday, 11 a.m. (PT)
LIVE LINKS: No Live Results or Live Video will be available for Saturday's meet at George Fox. Results will be posted, once received, on YoteAthletics.com.
SCHEDULE CHANGES: The originally scheduled Sunday dual meet at Pacific, along with the Jan. 28 dual meet at Soka University, were cancelled. Neither meet will be made up.
BOTH TEAMS RANKED #6: The outstanding 2018-19 season continues for both the Yotes and Lady Yotes, as each team is currently ranked No. 6 in their respective NAIA Top-10 Coaches Poll. The No. 6 mark for the men's side is the highest in program history, while the women's team remains ranked for the 22nd-straight poll, dating back to the 2015-16 season. Keiser (Fla.) holds the No. 1 spot in the men's poll, with SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) leading the women's poll.
TWO MEETS LEFT: C of I will have two final chances to qualify for the NAIA National Championships – this Saturday at George Fox and in mid-February at the Puget Sound Last Chance Meet. It will mark the Yotes first-ever meeting with the Bruins – who are competing as a varsity program for the first time in 2018-19. GFU has a 0-4 record on both the men's and women's sides in Northwest Conference action, with the women's program led by sprinter Aspen Monkhouse, who is unbeaten this season in the 50-yard freestyle, with Caleb Dean the top sprinter and backstroke specialist for the Bruin men.
DUAL MEETS: The Coyote men will put a dual meet win streak of 10 in a row on the line at George Fox – looking to complete a perfect 4-0 season. The Lady Yotes sit 2-2-1 on the season, with an opportunity to record their fourth winning season in five years with a win.
C OF I SHINES AT LOGGER INVITE: Prior to the Christmas Break, C of I traveled to Tacoma, Wash., to compete in the three-day, eight-team Logger Invitational. The Coyote men placed third overall – just behind Division II Concordia-Irvine and Division III Whitworth, with
Andrew Clifford winning three individual events (200-yard butterfly, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard freestyle) and
Dylan Osborne claiming a title in the 100-yard butterfly. The women's team placed seventh overall in the team race, with
Caroline Yannelli earning an individual title in the 200-yard breaststroke and adding a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
CLIFFORD EARNS NAIA HONOR: Sophomore
Andrew Clifford became the first C of I swimmer to earn NAIA Men's Swimmer of the Month, earning the national award for the first two months of the 2018-19 season. Clifford had a dominant first-half of the season - winning all but one individual race on the year. He has established new school records in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle events - ranking among the Top-10 nationally in both races - while establishing NAIA qualifying marks in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard butterfly.
MARYON TAKES THE HELM OF THE YOTES: Last week, C of I announced that former Coyote swimmer,
Tyler Maryon, has been named head coach of the men's and women's swim programs. Interim head coach,
Greg Colby, will remain with the team as an assistant coach and help with the transition. Maryon was a four-year letterwinner from 2013-16 – qualifying for four NAIA National Championships and left the College as the 100 and 200-yard butterfly school record-holder (and still has Top-5 times in both events). He returns to the College after leading Mountain View High to Top-10 finishes in the first-ever IDHSAA 5A state meet.
NAIA TOP-20 MARKS: To say it has been a great season for the C of I teams has been an understatement – as seven men's swimmers and six women's swimmers currently hold a NAIA Top-20 mark in their respective event. For the C of I men,
Andrew Clifford ranks among the Top-10 in four events (No. 3 in 200-free, No. 5 in 200-breast, No. 6 in both the 100-free and 200-fly), while three others are ranked in the Top-20 in two events –
