Monterey Park, Calif - The College of Idaho opened its first appearance at the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships on Wednesday with several strong individual performances, highlighted by a top-15 finish from Robinson Cahill in the 200-yard individual medley.
Cahill advanced to the evening session after posting a 1:58.64 in the prelims, then dropped more than a second in the final to touch in 1:57.30 for 13th overall.
In the 50-yard freestyle, two Yotes advanced to the finals in a deep and competitive field. Matti Eikenes qualified with a prelim swim of 21.55 before placing 17th in the final at 21.36. Karl Yount earned his way into the final with a 22.01 in the morning session and later finished 23rd in 21.98.
Several other Yotes delivered strong showings in the sprint freestyle. Sam Cortez set a career best in the 50 free with a 22.34. Alec Rodriquez clocked 22.62 and Jace Zemlicka added a 22.56 as The College of Idaho continued to build momentum on the opening day of the meet.
