Possibly the best athlete in the history of the school, Owens was a standout football and basketball player from 1952-56. A four-time All-Northwest Conference selection in both football and basketball (and NAIA All-American in both sports), he owns school records for receptions and receiving yardage in football and rebounds and rebound average in basketball. Was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers of the NBA and the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. Spent nine seasons in professional football, becoming synonymous with the “Alley Oop” pass. Was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1966 and the Bay Area Hall of Fame in 2010.
