A remarkable run through the NAIA Division II National Championships stamped the 2000-01 C of I women’s basketball team as the sixth inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame

Finishing the year ranked No. 8 in the Top-25 poll and posting a 26-8 record was just the tip of the iceberg for Todd Corman’s Lady Yotes – who won the College’s first-ever Cascade Conference women’s basketball regular season championship.

Paced by CCC Player of the Year and first-team All-American Alyson Pincock, the Yotes opened the national tournament with a tight 63-62 win over Lindenwood (Mo.), before rattling off three consecutive victories against Top-10 foes.  Pincock scored 30 points and All-CCC guard Cecilie Bates had 21 in a 73-54 win over No. 7 Hastings (Neb.); Pincock recorded a double-double as C of I stunned a 30-1 and No. 1 ranked Shawnee State (Ohio) squad, 75-65); while Linsi Sloan had 18 points as the Yotes defeated No. 3 ranked and host Briar Cliff (Iowa), 69-68.

Despite losing to Northwestern (Iowa) in the championship game, the Lady Yotes cemented themselves as the first C of I women’s NAIA team to place second at Nationals – a feat that has been matched just twice since.
