Biography
AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Hampton is in his fourth year with the Coyote cross country and track programs.
CROSS COUNTRY: In 2014, ran as the Yotes No. 1 runner, earning All-Cascade Conference and NAIA All-America honors; ran a career-best 24:51 at the Inland Empire Classic, placing 20th in a deep field, while taking 11th at the CCC Championships (25:09) and 25th at the NAIA Championships (25:30); in 2013, recorded a season-best time at the Inland Empire Classic, clocking a 25:08 over the 8,000-meter distance; was C of I's third finisher at the NAIA Championships (26:21); in 2012, had a season-best time of 26:17 at the CCC Championships, while finishing as the No. 4 scorer at Nationals.
TRACK & FIELD: In 2015, earned All-CCC and NAIA All-America honors after a solid season; placed second at the CCC Championships in the 10,000-meters, clocking a season-best time of 32:40, while taking eighth at the NAIA Championships in the 5,000-meters, recording a season-best time of 14:55; indoors, qualified for the NAIA Championships in the 3,000-meters with a season-best time of 8:37.45; in 2014, placed ninth at the CCC Championships in the 5,000-meters and 13th in the 1,500-meters; ran seasonal best times of 4:01.75 in the 1,500 and 15:07 in the 5,000; did not compete during the 2013 indoor/outdoor season.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Eagle High, where he competed in both cross country and track; qualified for the 5A state championships in 2009, 2010, and 2011, helping his team to the state title as a junior; in track, qualified for the 5A finals in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter events; top prep times include 4:28 in the 1,600-meters, 9:43 in the 3,200-meters, and 16:26 in the 5,000-meters..
PERSONAL:Â Studying biology and art; earned the Idaho Mayors Award to Youth in 2012; son of Brian and Lisa Hampton; brother Nick also ran cross country and track for the Yotes.
