NATIONAL POLL: The Coyote men head into 2020 ranked No. 9 in the latest NAIA Top-10 Coaches' Poll, released on Dec. 22. For the first time since 2015-16 (27 polling periods), the Coyote women fell out of the Top-10 – but are continuing to receive votes by the coaches. The next poll will be released on Jan. 24.
JANUARY DUAL MEET SEASON TO BEGIN: C of I will use the month of January to compete in multiple dual meets – making consecutive trips to Oregon. This Saturday, the Yotes will compete against Willamette (along with Southwestern Oregon CC), while next Saturday, the squad travels to George Fox (with the women's team also racing against the University of Idaho). Willamette is searching for their first dual win of 2019-20 – as both their men's and women's teams are 0-3 – with Ben Hedman in the IM's and Olivia Frenkel in the middle-distance events pacing the Bearcats. Second-year program GFU (0-4 men, 1-3 women) is much improved this season, with the Bruin men led by Caleb Dean in the butterfly and the women paced by sprinter Aspen Munkhouse.
GREAT LOGGER INVITE: Prior to the holiday break, the Coyotes competed at the Logger Invitational in Washington, racing against Whitman, Whitworth, SWOCC and host Puget Sound. Three C of I swimmers earned individual wins, as
Andrew Clifford dominated the 200-yard butterfly, 200-yard IM and setting a new school-record in the 200-yard freestyle.
Caroline Yannelli won the 200-yard breaststroke, breaking her own school record, with
Maya Murphy claiming a win in the 100-yard freestyle and a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
