TACOMA, Wash. –
Caroline Yannelli broke a school record for the second-straight evening and the College of Idaho women's swim team established seven new NAIA qualifying marks on the final day of the Logger Invitational at Wallace Pool.
As a team, the Lady Yotes finished seventh overall in the 3-day meet – their final competition of the fall schedule.
Yannelli placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke, with her time of 1:05.58 the fastest ever by a Lady Yote – eclipsing her own school record by seven-hundredths of a second – the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season. She also placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 4:42.72, improving her "A" qualifying mark.
Three Lady Yotes recorded NAIA automatic cuts –
Reina Watkins, with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.51),
Abby Schwarte in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.02) and
Maya Murphy in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.04) – adding a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.65).
Two athletes hit a pair of "B" marks –
Aunika Torres in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.54) and the 400-yard IM (5:02.94), with
Hailie Mazick in the 50-yard freestyle (25.76) and 200-yard freestyle (2:03.50).
Taylor Gordon hit the "B" cut in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.20), while
Laurel Rowe took ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle – improving her NAIA "A" mark by 19 seconds with her time of 18:39.94.
