Biography

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Oppedyk is in his fifth season with the Coyote football program, while having competed for four seasons with the track program. 

2017: Finished fifth in the discus throw at the Cascade Conference Championships with a personal-best distance of 42.44 meters; also competed in the javelin, shot put and hammer throw at the CCC Championships; honored as a CCC All-Academic Team and NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

2016: In football, played in eight games as part of the defensive end rotation, recording four tackles; finished tied for the team lead with two fumble recoveries; honored as a Frontier Conference All-Academic Team selection, an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 team. In track, qualified for the CCC Championships in the shot put, hammer throw and the discus; set the then-school record in the hammer throw (44.44 meters / 145 feet, 10 inches) with a fifth-place finish at the conference meet, while placing fifth in the shot put (13.99 meters / 45 feet, 10 inches) and tenth in the discus (40.29 meters / 132 feet, 2 inches); named to the CCC All-Academic Team, the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Team and a NAIA Scholar-Athlete.


2015: In football, played in 10 games as part of the defensive line rotation; recorded 20 tackles on the season, including a game-high six stops vs. Southern Oregon; also had two sacks on the season; was honored as a Frontier Conference All-Academic Team, a CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 and a NAIA Scholar-Athlete selection. In track, set the school record in the hammer throw (142-feet, 8-inches), placing eighth at the CCC Championships; had season best marks of 137-feet, 8-inches in the discus and 46-feet, 8-inches in the shot put; honored as a member of the CCC All-Academic Team.

2014: In football, played in six games as a reserve defensive end and special teams player, recording two tackles; named to the Frontier Conference All-Academic Team; in track, qualified for the CCC Championships in the shot put and discus; placed ninth in the discus (137-feet, 4-inches) and tenth in the shot (43-feet, 3-inches).

2013: Was a member of the Yotes "zero year" football season.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2013 graduate of Buhl High, where he was a two-time All-Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference selection in football; in track, recorded four Top-6 finishes at the 3A state championships in the throws; had prep career bests of 51-feet, seven-inches in the shot and 148-feet, 11-inches in the discus.

PERSONAL: Studying business; son of George Oppedyk and Deanna Hunsaker.
