Summary

Biography

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Whitfield is in his fifth season with the Coyote football program and completed his four seasons of eligibility with the track program.

2017: In track, placed ninth in the 400-meters, tenth in the 200-meters and 12th in the 100-meters at the Cascade Conference Championships; helped the 4x100-meter relay team to a fifth-place finish and the 4x400-meter relay team to a sixth-place finish at the meet; had season-best times of 11.17 seconds in the 100-meters and 22.77 seconds in the 200-meters.

2016: In football, started all 11 games at cornerback, recording 39 tackles; led the Frontier Conference and the NAIA with 22 passes defended and topped the Yotes with four interceptions; added two tackles for loss; named to the Frontier Conference All-Academic Team and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. In track, qualified for the CCC Championships in the 100 and 200-meters, while helping the 4x100-meter relay team set a school record; had top times of 11.33 seconds in the 100 and 22.73 in the 200-meters; indoors, had top times of 7.12 in the 60-meters and 23.06 in the 200-meters; named to the CCC All-Academic Team.

2015: In football, played in all 11 games in the regular cornerback rotation, recording 23 tackles; had a season-high five tackles vs. Pacific; recorded two tackles for loss on the season, including one sack; named to the Frontier Conference All-Academic Team. In track, recorded top indoor marks of 7.17 in the 60-meters and 23.05 in the 200-meters; outdoors, helped the Yotes set a school record in the 4x100-relay (42.60), while qualifying for the CCC Championships in the 100-meters (11.11) and the 200-meters (22.57); named to the CCC All-Academic Team.

2014: Saw action in all 11 football games as a cornerback and key special teams player; made 30 tackles, including six against Montana Tech; named to the Frontier Conference All-Academic Team. In track, qualified for the CCC Championships in the 100-meters (11.39), 200-meters (23.00); also ran as part of C of I's 4x100-meter relay.

2013: Was a part of the Yotes "zero year" football program.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2013 graduate of Mountain Home High, where he competed in both football and track; in track, finished sixth at the 2013 4A state championships in the 100-meters (11.14), while helping his 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams place at the meet.

PERSONAL: Studying business; son of Michael and Glenda Whitfield; member of the C of I program council.
