KID'S DAY: The College of Idaho is hosting its inaugural Kid's Day at Simplot Stadium. Elementary school students in the Caldwell and Vallivue School District received a voucher to attend today's game at no cost.
BIG WIN, BIG STEPS: The Yotes made the NAIA-biggest leap in this week's national poll with the College of Idaho moving up six spots to No. 11 College of Idaho ended the 2021 season ranked in the final NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll, earning the No. 25 spot in the ranking. Hunter Gilbert score on a 30-yard touchdown run that put College of Idaho ahead 21-17. Despite allowing an ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, the Yotes regained the lead for good when
Andy Peters connected with
Jon Schofield on a 10-yard touchdown pass for a 28-24 lead. Two plays into SOU's next drive, redshirt freshman
Keegan Croteau intercepted a SOU pass and returned it 24 yards for a College of Idaho touchdown.
SECOND HALF SUCCESS: College of Idaho is outscoring its opponents, 63-19 in the second half with a 28-0 advantage in the fourth quarter. C of I has converted on third down on 11 of its 18 (61.1%) of its opportunities in the second half. Opponents are 9 of 24 (37.5%) on third down in the second half. Dating back to last season, College of Idaho has outscored its opponents by a 194-96 margin.
PICK SIX: Keegan Croteau became the latest College of Idaho player to return an interception for a touchdown when he stepped in front of a SOU pass and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown, last Saturday. The last pick-six in favor of College of Idaho was last season when
Cade Flint returned an interception five yards against Eastern Oregon (Sept. 25). The 2019 squad had three interceptions that they returned for touchdowns.
HUNTER'S HOMECOMING: Tigard, Oregon native
Hunter Gilbert had a career day against Southern Oregon on Saturday. Gilbert, who was playing in front on multiple family members, racked up new career highs in carries (21), yards (153) and touchdowns (3). All three are season highs among C of I ball carriers to go along with his 30-yard touchdown run is the longest for a ball carrier since a 76-yard run by
Nick Calzaretta on November 6 against Eastern Oregon.
WIDE OUT WEALTH: In the last three games, College of Idaho has had a receiver with a 100-yard contest for the first time since the return of football to Caldwell in the 2014 season.
PAYDIRT: In eight-consecutive games, College of Idaho has scored at least one rushing touchdown including a six-touchdown effort against Montana Western (October 23, 2021). Furthermore, the C of I have had a rushing TD in 12 of its last 13 games.
WELCOME BACK BROCK: After missing the first two games with an injury,
Brock Richardson made an immediate impact in his 2022 debut. Henderson hauled in eight catches for 105 yards with a touchdown against SOU. He also had four carries for 27 yards against the Raiders.
