McCoy Named Conference and NAIA Player of the Week

WHITEFISH, Mont. / KANSAS CITY, Mo. - College of Idaho defensive end Keagan McCoy was honored today as ERCK Hotels Frontier Conference and NAIA Football National Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the league and national offices.

The senior, from Boise, was instrumental in the Coyotes 28-23 comeback win at Montana Tech on Saturday, finishing the day with five total tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

McCoy had a blindside fourth quarter sack of Tech quarterback Jet Campbell that resulted in a fumble - forcing the Orediggers to punt - with C of I scoring a touchdown on the resulting drive. Later in the period, McCoy recovered a Campbell fumble at the 40-yard-line and raced untouched to the end zone to give C of I their first lead of the afternoon.

It marks the third Coyote to earn NAIA Player of the Week honors this season - joining teammates Nick Calzaretta and Dylan Martinez.

In addition, the Yotes climbed back into the NAIA Top-25 - earning the No. 25 ranking in the latest coaches' poll. C of I is one of three Frontier Conference teams in the poll, as Rocky Mountain sits at No. 18 and Montana Western is at No. 21.

C of I has the weekend off, preparing for an Oct. 23 home match-up vs. Montana Western.
