C of I Leads CCC in Scholar-Athletes, Sets New Record

CORVALLIS, Ore. – College of Idaho student-athletes in the spring season racked up 61 U.S. Bank Academic All-Cascade Conference awards, culminating the best single-season in the classroom in program history.

The spring award is for student-athletes in the sports of baseball, track and field, golf and softball.

For the third-straight year, Coyote teams broke the total scholar-athlete record, tallying a record 161 academic awards (combined between the USCSA, the Frontier Conference and the CCC) – including 127 total C of I CCC student-athletes of sophomore standing or older maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.
 
Five C of I skiers were honored by the USCSA, with 29 football players honored by the Frontier Conference.
 
Two other CCC teams had 50-or-more scholar-athletes during the spring season – as Corban had 60 selections and Oregon Tech tallied 55 scholar-athletes.
 
The Coyote women's track and field team led all CCC teams with 22 scholar-athlete selections.

In addition, all athletes of junior or senior academic status and maintaining a 3.50 cumulative grade point average at the College will be eligible for the 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, which will be announced in September.
