CALDWELL, Idaho – Competing against teams in venues over 1,000-miles away, The College of Idaho opened their 2020-21 swimming and diving season with a first-of-its-kind Virtual Meet inside the J.A. Albertson Aquatics Center.

The NAIA is allowing Virtual Meets this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with teams racing at the same time in their home pools, with the events streamed simultaneously online.
C of I competed against Midland University of Nebraska and Loyola University of New Orleans – with the Yotes placing second in the cumulative standings and splitting the head-to-head duals with the two squads.
Sophomore
Ian Clifford earned the lone individual win for the Coyotes, earning a victory in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.63).
Senior
Andrew Clifford hit an NAIA "B" qualifying mark with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.56), while placing third in the 50-yard freestyle (22.56).
Jake Klassen had three podium finishes, as the senior took second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.87), third in the 100-yard backstroke (59.16) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (55.78), while fellow senior
Hayden Krause added a third-place effort in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.92).
Midland claimed the team title with 687 points – sweeping duals against both C of I (191-50) and Loyola (191-44). C of I took second (371) and LU placed third (228), with the Coyotes earning a 100-73 victory in the match-up with the Louisiana school.
C of I will host another Virtual Meet next Saturday against Whitworth University.
