LA GRANDE, Ore. - Placing eight runners inside the Top-9, College of Idaho dominated the season-opening "Duel in the Dirt" against Eastern Oregon at Lane Farms.
The Yotes, who opened the year ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, swept the podium - as
Erin Moyer earned a 4-second victory over the 3,000-meter course, clocking a time of 10:26.80. It was second-fastest 3,000-meter time in program history.
True freshman
Sage Martin (10:30.60) had a tremendous debut, placing second, just four seconds behind Moyer, while sophomore
Abbey Shirts placed third (10:35.80).
Freshman
Ellyse Tingelstad placed fifth (10:47.60) and senior
Chaye Uptmor (10:56.70) took sixth to round out the 17-point scoring group for the Yotes.
Larissa Mauer (11:08.00),
Charlie Duff (11:23.70) and
Madison Kingsbury (11:25.20) all earned Top-10 finishes - with C of I's 5-runner team time nearly five minutes faster than EOU.
C of I returns to action next weekend to close out the fall portion of the season at Lewis-Clark State.
