SALEM, Ore. - The College of Idaho women's cross country dynasty continued Friday as the Yotes dominated the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships at Oak Knoll Golf Course, claiming their seventh consecutive team title. The victory extends C of I's CCC record for most consecutive championships, which they broke a year ago with six straight.
The Yotes placed all five scorers inside the top 15 to total 39 points, well ahead of runner-up Southern Oregon (91) and third-place Eastern Oregon (102). Junior Kylee Quinton led the charge with a third-place finish in 21 minutes, 49.2 seconds, followed closely by Julia Gilbert (4th, 21:54.7) and Rozzlyn Cazier (7th, 22:17.6). Freshman Paiten Braseth (11th, 22:35.6) and Josie Patton (14th, 22:37.4) rounded out the scoring for a team that averaged 22:14.9 with a 48-second spread.
Head coach Dom Bolin was named CCC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year after guiding the Yotes to another commanding championship run.
On the men's side, C of I took third place with 91 points in the 8,000-meter race, finishing just behind Eastern Oregon (71) and Southern Oregon (89). Junior Collin De Julio paced the Yotes in 13th place with a time of 24:59.2, while Isaac Anttonen (16th, 25:20.1), Everett Metier (17th, 25:21.6), Cass Violett (20th, 25:30.7) and Isaac Edwards (25th, 25:41.2) rounded out the scoring five.
With the victory, the C of I women earned an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships later this month, while the men remain in contention for an at-large selection after a strong team performance.
