PORTLAND, Ore. – A 10 goal explosion in the first quarter set the tone for the College of Idaho, as the Yotes ran their win streak to four in a row, rolling to a 23-10 victory at Portland State at Stott Field.
The Coyotes (6-2, 2-0 PNCLL) are the lone unbeaten team remaining in the South Division, as 10 different C of I players scored on the rainy afternoon.
The host Vikings (3-3, 2-1) took an early 1-0 lead – but C of I countered with four goals in a 51-second span of the quarter to turn the field of play.
Joey Brant found the net off a
Nich Guzzetti feed;
Tyler Sanchez scored off a
Cory Brady pass; with both Brady and Sanchez tallying unassisted markers, as the Yotes led 4-1 just five minutes into the game.
The onslaught continued, as Guzzetti scored twice and
Bryan Dilworth scored his first collegiate goal as the lead grew to 10-1 and extended to 15-3 at the break.
Brant led C of I with six goals and an assist, with Guzzetti, Sanchez,
Aaron Canode and
R.J. Walker all scoring three goals in the victory. Brady finished with a goal, four assists and seven ground balls, with
Jonah Jordan making 11 saves in goal.
Avyion Fisher was stellar, winning 20 of 25 face off attempts on the day.
The Yotes close out their road schedule tomorrow, meeting rival Western Oregon at Noon (PDT).
