HELENA, Mont. – Megan Gipe and Tess Eaton handcuffed the College of Idaho bats as Carroll College swept a pair of Cascade Conference East Division games.
The Saints (21-15, 8-8 CCC) got a four-hit shutout from Gipe in Game 1, winning 6-0, with Eaton tossing CC's first program no-hitter, topping the Yotes, 4-0.
Run scoring singles from Kaydee Parsons in the second and Courtney Cloud in the fourth gave CC a 2-0 lead in Game 1, with the Saints breaking the game open in the sixth – as a Madison Soper two-run single capped a four-run inning.
Gipe walked two and fanned six for the win, while
Ashley Pesek allowed 11 hits and six runs in the loss for C of I (12-17-1, 6-12).
Eaton was the story in Game 2, working around five walks to toss the no-no – as C of I stranded a pair in the first and the bases loaded to end the game.
All four runs were scored in the third, as the Saints capitalized on two C of I errors.
Cortni Pena was the tough-luck loser, allowing just one earned run for the Lady Yotes.
Destiny Turner, who had a hit in Game 1, walked once in four plate appearances in Game 2 to end her school-record tying hit streak at 21 games.
C of I closes out the regular season with three home doubleheaders – beginning next Friday against Northwest University.
