KANSAS CITY, Mo. - College of Idaho's Sam Johnston was honored today as a member of the Rawlings-NAIA All-America Gold Glove Team, announced at the conclusion of the NAIA World Series.
The senior, from Bellevue, Wash., was the third-baseman on the nine member team, honored for their defensive prowess during the 2014 season. Johnston had 95 chances at the hot corner this season, recording 30 putouts, 62 assists, and an NAIA-low three errors.
Johnston becomes the fifth C of I player in program history to earn the award - joining Brandon Mattingly (1999), Patrick Gonzalez (2002), Luke Howarth (2007), and Mitch Dame (2011).
