20 Run Day For College of Idaho Earns Two Wins

CALDWELL, Idaho. The College of Idaho baseball team completed a sweep of Friday's doubleheader against Corban, with 10-4 and 10-2 victories at Wolfe Field.

The Yotes opened the day with a consistent offensive effort in the opener, collecting 13 hits and scoring in six different innings to pull away after a brief fourth-inning scare. James Hull delivered a standout performance at the top of the lineup, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Austin Moon went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a walk. Darren Smith added a pair of RBIs on a third-inning double and finished with a team-high seven putouts defensively.

On the mound, Jackson Cummins earned the win after working seven innings and allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out seven without issuing a walk. The Yotes bullpen closed the door with two scoreless innings, as Calvin Euper struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth and Teagan Kinney finished the game.

Corban briefly jumped ahead with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Isaac Bateman, who finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Warriors. The Yotes responded immediately with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back.

Game two followed a similar script as The College of Idaho erupted for five runs in the fifth inning to break a one-run game open. Darren Smith paced the offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Skye Palmer delivered a 2-for-3 effort that included two RBIs and a run scored. James Hull recorded three hits and scored twice, while Caden Casagrande and Evan Brown each drove in a run during the decisive fifth frame.

The Yotes pitching staff held Corban to two runs on 12 hits. Heath Sasser-Gunson allowed one unearned run over four innings in his start. Willy Shirts picked up the win with two solid innings of relief, and Kayden Sandow closed out the contest with three scoreless innings to earn the save.

Chase Elliott led Corban offensively in the nightcap, going 3-for-5, while JC Klee finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The two teams will continue the series and conclude the four-game set Saturday with another doubleheader at Wolfe Field. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. MT.
