ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The College of Idaho Men's and Women's Swim teams delivered strong performances at the first-ever Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC) Swimming Championship, securing a fourth-place finish on both sides. The men tallied 78 points, while the women earned 51 in the final meet before nationals.
Tow Yotes earned All-GSAC honors for their outstanding individual efforts. On the men's side, Cahill Robinson captured the 100-yard breaststroke title with a dominant time of 57.67. For the women, Sophie Mottishaw earned a pair of All-GSAC recognitions by placing second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.29) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.78).
Men's Highlights
The Yotes men's team showcased depth in relay and individual events. In the 4x200-yard freestyle relay, the squad of Karl Yount, Ognjen Markovic, Cahill Robinson, and Matti Eikenes raced to a third-place finish with a time of 1:29.83. Robinson followed up his championship-winning 100-yard breaststroke with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.77).
Yount placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (53.10), adding valuable points for the Yotes. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Eikenes, Sam Cortes, Yount, and Markovic capped the meet with another third-place finish at 3:14.66.
Women's Highlights
Leading the way for the women's team, Mottishaw turned in an impressive performance, securing second place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.29) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.78).
The relay teams displayed consistency, finishing fourth across multiple events. The 4x200-yard freestyle relay team of Shae Arnold, Darby Rossi, Mottishaw, and Lily Schroer clocked in at 1:56.74. In the 400-yard medley relay, Schroer, Rossi, Mottishaw, and Arnold combined for a 4:56.73 finish, while the 200-yard medley relay team (Schroer, Arnold, Mottishaw, and Rossi) touched in at 2:12.18.
Mottishaw also added a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.02) to round out a strong showing for the Yotes.
With the GSAC Championships concluded, the Yotes now turn their attention to the NAIA National Championships beginning March 5th in Elkhart, Ind.
