CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho Yotes football team saw two of its standout players, Andy Peters and Tanner Steele, earn significant recognition following their thrilling 45-37 overtime victory over No. 10 Montana Tech.
Andy Peters, a senior quarterback from Boise, Idaho, was pivotal in the Yotes' come-from-behind win and earned NAIA Football Offensive Player of the Week and Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Peters led the Yotes to victory by scoring two rushing touchdowns, throwing for two more, and adding a crucial two-point conversion in overtime. His performance also set four new College of Idaho records:
- First Yote to surpass 400 passing yards in a regular-season game (419).
- First Yote to tally over 500 total yards of offense in a single game (509).
- Broke the school's career record for passing touchdowns (50).
- Set a new single-game record for completed passes (32).
This marks Peters' fifth career Frontier Conference Player of the Week award, and his first NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Tanner Steele played an equally critical role in the victory, earning Frontier Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Steele's game-changing moment came late in the fourth quarter when he blocked Montana Tech's potential game-winning PAT with less than 5 seconds remaining, forcing the game into overtime. His clutch play gave the Yotes the chance to secure their upset win. Steele also contributed five tackles and a pass break-up, marking his first career Player of the Week award.
