CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho men's swimming and diving team has qualified two individuals –
Ryan Barnard (Hermiston, Ore. / Pendleton HS) and
Joel Hartmann (Ulm, Germany / Hans and Scholl Gymnasium) – and a third –
Alec Chournos (Garland, Utah / Beau River HS) as an alternate for the upcoming NAIA Swimming and Diving Championship as the national office announced national qualifiers on Friday.
Barnard has qualified in three events – the 200 individual medley and the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and Hartmann has secured a spot in the 200 and 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard butterfly. For Barnard, it is his second appearance at the national championship after qualifying in three individual events and as a member of three relays in 2019-20. Teammate
Alec Chournos is an alternate in the 200 backstroke. Should Chournos secure a spot in the event, it would be his second appearance at the national championship.
The 2023 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships will take place, March 1-4 at the Columbus Aquatic Center in Columbus, Georgia.
