MOSCOW, Idaho - The College of Idaho Swim team opened the weekend at the Vandal Invite in Moscow on Friday against the University of Idaho and Whitman.
Ognjen Markovic improved his meet time in the 50 yard freestyle from last year, recording a 20.98 compared to a 21.24 last year. This is only the second time in College of Idaho swimming history that someone has recorded a time below 21 seconds, with the school record being 20.96. Markovic's time was good for first place.
The men's team also took home second through fifth place in the 200 yard IM, as
Joel Hartmann,
Alec Chournos,
Cahill Robinson, and
Sam Cortes all took home top five spots.
On the women's side,
Avalon Jones recorded an NAIA "B" qualifying mark in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.02, which is a season best by one second.
Out of the 23 individual swims, there were 21 season bests on Friday, and 12 of those times were personal records for their collegiate careers.
The Yotes will return to action for day two of the Vandal Invite on Saturday.
