CORVALLIS, Ore. - The College of Idaho men's soccer team placed four players on the All-CCC list, announced by the conference office on Thursday. The list includes three first team honorees and one second team honoree.
Tom Baynard-Smith was named to the All-CCC First team after having a remarkable season in goal. After not seeing the field due to injury in the non-conference portion of the schedule, Baynard-Smith was impressive in conference play, recording 45 saves and recording six clean sheets. He was also named the Rize CCC Defensive Player of the week on several occasions.
The second member of the All-CCC First Team is
Jorge Fernandez. Fernandez had a breakout year in his sophomore season, leading the Yotes in both goals (13) and points (28). Fernandez has also contributed a pair of assists to lead the way for the Yotes offense.
Senior defender
Emil Powles was the third honoree on the All-CCC First Team. Leading the way on the back line, Powles was a big factor on defense, only allowing 18 goals in the regular season, and holding opponents to under 150 shots recorded through the regular season. On the offensive side of the ball, Powles recorded 11 total points with four goals and three assists.
Headlining the All-CCC Second Team is our final honoree,
Grant Embree. The junior from Eagle was a contributing factor on both sides of the ball. He recorded four goals and one assist on the offensive side, and his game winner in the regular season against Southern Oregon led to him being named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week. Along with Powles, Embree has been a force on defense, troubling opponents from getting shots off.
The four All-CCC honorees will take to the field once more on Friday, playing in the team's first CCC Championship since 2008.
