RED LODGE, Mont. - A wild day at Red Lodge Mountain ended with The College of Idaho standing in second-place in the alpine combined, securing the Coyotes a spot in the USCSA National Championships.
The Yotes placed second overall in today's slalom race that saw 34 skiers fail to complete two runs - with top teams from Colorado, Air Force and Utah failing to have three qualifying runs.
C of I pounced on the opportunity, as
Carson Parco placed seventh overall (1:38.28) - helping the Yotes to a team time of 5:10.00 - trailing only regional champ, Rocky Mountain (4:38.04). Colorado State placed third overall (5:31.82) - 21 seconds behind the Yotes.
Benjamin Troyer placed 15th overall (1:39.81), with
William Paquette taking 37th (1:51.81) completing the C of I scoring trio. Both
Cade McIntyre (1:59.43) and
Michael Coleman (2:07.56) completed a pair of runs.
With the Top-4 finish, C of I earns an automatic bid to the USCSA National Championships, set for Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y., March 6-12.
