HOMECOMING HISTORY LESSONS: It is Homecoming and Family Weekend on the C of I campus, as we welcome all former Coyotes, family and friends to today's game. Since 1933, the Yotes are a combined 25-18-2 on Homecoming Weekend – including a string of 10-straight wins from 1946-55. College of Idaho has won three of its last four homecoming tilts.
UNDEFEATED: There are nine undefeated teams in the NAIA ranks including the Yotes. Three of the five wins for College of Idaho have come on the road, among the nine undefeated - four of them including the Yotes have three road wins. The last time that College of Idaho started the season with a 5-0 mark was in 2019 en route to an 11-1 mark.
DOWNPOUR OF SUCCESS: Senior defensive end
Keagan McCoy was named the NAIA and the Frontier Conference/Erck Hotels Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts, last week against Carroll. Played in a constant downpour of rain, McCoy led the Yotes with nine tackles, including four sacks and a forced fumble against the Saints. His four-sack effort was just a half sack away from matching his own school record of 4.5 against MSU-Northern on November 16, 2019. It is the second time in his career that McCoy has earned both honors. He secured both honors on October 11, 2021 after the meeting against Montana Tech, last season.
STIFLING THE RUN: The -15 yards that Carroll picked up on the ground are the fewest by a College of Idaho opponent in program history. The previous mark was two yards at Lewis & Clark (Nov. 2, 1974). Last year, the Yotes held the Saints to 40 yards on the ground - which ranks ninth in program history).
QUICK STRIKES: Down 13-7, the one play, 68-yard touchdown pass from
Ryan Hibbs to
Brock Richardson put the momentum back on the sidelines for C of I, who went ahead for the remainder of the game after the PAT by
Spencer Fiske on Saturday. The last one play touchdown drive for the Yotes was when
Jack Rice connected with
Jake Nadley for an 18-yard TD pass against the Saints, last year on October 2.
ALL ABOARD ALLAMAR: Junior
Allamar Alexander has eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the ground in the last two games. He followed up his 21 carry, 145 yard and three touchdown effort against Eastern Oregon (Sept. 24) with a 25 carry, 129 yard and one touchdown effort against Carroll on Saturday (Oct. 1). Alexander in the same two game stretch matched the feat that was performed last season by
Nick Calzaretta.
SPECIAL EFFORTS by SPECIAL TEAMS: Senior punter
Jacob Johnson landed three of his six punts inside the 20 against Carroll. The last time that Johnson did that was against Eastern Oregon (Nov. 6, 2021). Place kicker
Spencer Fiske has made 21 of his 22 point-after attempts. With 21 PATs Fiske ranks ninth in a season through just five games.
YOTES CLIMB INTO TOP 10: The Yotes moved to the No. 9 spot in this week's national poll. College of Idaho is joined in the top 25 by three other Frontier Conference foes including this week's opponent Carroll (No. 24). Also in the rankings are Rocky Mountain College (No. 17) and Montana Tech (No. 19). Having been in the top 25 for five-straight weeks, College of Idaho has the 16th longest active streak. College of Idaho ended the 2021 season ranked in the final NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll, earning the No. 25 spot in the ranking.
SECOND HALF SUCCESS: College of Idaho is outscoring its opponents, 114-32 in the second half with a 52-7 advantage in the fourth quarter. Opponents are 11 of 35 (31.4%) on third down in the second half.
