AUSTIN, Texas –
Andrew Clifford, a senior swimmer at The College of Idaho headlines the Academic All-America® NAIA Men's At-Large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.
Clifford was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for the NAIA Men's At-Large Team - representing the sports of bowling, competitive dance, competitive cheer, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Clifford is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection — the first Yote to accomplish that feat in any sport — from Meridian, Idaho, and is a repeat first-team honoree. The senior is a 14-time NAIA swimming and diving All-American, including seven individual All-America honors and closed his career with six individual school records and five relay school marks.
In addition to his accolades in the pool, Clifford graduated with a 3.96 GPA in chemistry, math and physics. He is one of six honorees with a 3.90 GPA or better.
Joining Clifford on the team was fellow Coyote senior,
Mitch Hawley, who earns first-team honors for the first time in his career. The Woods Cross, Utah, native was a 3-time All-American, part of the 800-meter relay team that holds the C of I school record and graduated with a 3.91 GPA in biomedical sciences.
