WHITEFISH, Mont. – Eight College of Idaho football players were honored as first-team All-Frontier Conference selections, announced by the league office.
In all, 16 different Coyote players were recognized by the league after the four-game spring season, which culminated on April 10.
Running back
Nick Calzaretta was the lone Yote to repeat as a first-team selection, as the fourth-year player led C of I with 273 rushing yards and five overall touchdowns on the season – moving into the No. 4 spot on the all-time rushing list.
Two receivers were also on the first-team –
Hunter Juarez and
Isaiah Veal. Juarez, a second-team pick in 2019, caught 10 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown in limited action, while Veal led C of I with 16 catches for 300 yards and a league-best three touchdown grabs.
The Coyote secondary claimed three of the four spots on the first-team, as corners
Isaiah Abdul and
Dorian Hardin were honored, along with safety
Taeson Hardin. Abdul, a junior, had 16 tackles and a team-high two interceptions; while
Dorian Hardin had 18 tackles, an interception, and a team best five passes defended.
Taeson Hardin, a second-team pick in 2019, was the Yotes second-leading tackler with 32 stops, adding two forced fumbles.
Linebacker
Dylan Martinez and defensive end
Keagan McCoy were also honored as first-team picks. Martinez was C of I's top tackler, posting 33 tackles and an interception, while McCoy led the team with three tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks among his 11 overall tackles.
Three offensive linemen – sophomore center
Braden Bale, freshman guard
Tyler Barron and sophomore tackle
Ryan Halford, were all honored as second-team selections. Bale was a second-year starter, while both Barron and Halford joined the starting unit in 2021.
In addition, receiver
Connor Richardson was honored as a second-team pick after catching 10 passes during his senior season.
Linebackers
Graham Carnahan and
Joey Calzaretta, along with defensive tackle,
Gino Allen, were also recognized as second-team selections. Carnahan averaged seven tackles per game, with
Joey Calzaretta recording 15 tackles and was one of the top special teams' players on the squad. Allen had 11 tackles and a sack on the season.
Carnahan was also selected as C of I's Champions of Character nominee.
Closing out the Coyote recipients was
Brock Richardson, as the freshman was named the second-team kick returner and punt returner after averaging 13.3 yards a punt return and 27.4 yards a kick return.
Eastern Oregon's Kai Quinn was named Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Year, with EOU's Chase Van Wyck named Defensive Player of the Year.
