RED LODGE, Mont. – Competing for the final time in the shortened 2021 season, both College of Idaho alpine ski teams placed second overall in the combined at the USCSA Western Region Championships on Red Lodge Mountain.
The Coyote women recorded their second-straight second-place finish in today's slalom competition, while the Coyote men placed third.
Big days from both
Amy Farley and
Sasha Mueller were the key for the women's squad, as Farley placed fifth overall (1:34.81) and Mueller sixth (1:34.97) – helping C of I to a 2-run team time of 5:09.88.
Rocky Mountain won the title with a team time of 4:30.50 – thanks in part to a dominating performance by individual champion, Sofia Brustia (1:28.06).
The C of I men struggled today – as Ben Troyer was the top finisher in eighth-place (1:31.64). The Yotes team time of 5:26.83 was over a minute behind RMC (4:11.65), with Western Colorado besting C of I by less than a second (5:26.08) – despite taking a ghost time.
The regional marks the end of the season for all USCSA teams, as the USCSA Championships were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
