RED LODGE, Mont. – Both College of Idaho alpine ski teams placed second in the giant slalom on Day 1 of the USCSA Western Regional Championships at Red Lodge Mountain.
Host Rocky Mountain claimed the both team titles, with Colorado Mesa placing third.
In the men's race, RMC posted the six fastest times, led by Alexander Schlberg (1:34.44), as the Bears clocked a 2-run team time of 4:45.97. C of I finished 32 seconds behind (5:17.96), paced by a seventh-place finish from Ben Troyer (1:39.08) and a ninth-place finish from
William Paquette (1:40.59).
On the women's side,
Sasha Mueller had a great day for the Yotes, placing fourth overall (1:43.77) – less than a second out of a podium finish.
Hilde Sato earned the individual win for RMC (1:38.25), as the Bears earned the team title (5:01.16), ahead of C of I (5:28.21) and Colorado Mesa (6:11.60).
Amy Farley placed seventh for C of I (1:49.45) and
Kayla Vandecoevering (1:55.84) in 11th, completing the Coyotes scoring trio.
The 2021 season concludes tomorrow as the teams compete in the slalom.
