Taylor Named Coyotes New Offensive Coordinator

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho football coach Mike Moroski has named Brian Taylor the Coyotes new offensive coordinator for the 2020 season.

Taylor, who has served as C of I's wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator for the last three seasons, replaces Mike Cody, who left the College to become an assistant offensive line coach at UC Davis.

"Brian has been one of the most effective and hardworking assistant coaches we have had at the College of Idaho," said Moroski.  As the wide receivers coach, he was instrumental in developing All-Frontier Conference players in Connor Richardson and Hunter Juarez.  He has a command of the offense and I am excited to see his creativity impact our offense."

The Lewiston native was a 4-year letter-winner at Pacific University, transitioning into a coaching role for the Boxers, before joining the Coyotes prior to the 2017 season. Last season, the Coyote passing game set a school record with 2,486 yards and 23 touchdowns.

"I am very thankful for the opportunity to be our offensive coordinator," Taylor said. "Our offensive has had some great success the last few seasons under Coach Cody and I have learned a lot from him – which will help me moving forward. We have a lot of explosive play-makers coming back and some young guys that we are fired up about. Most importantly, I think as a group, we are very motivated to cement our foundation as a contender. Even more so, with the obstacles we are all facing, there is no better opportunity than right now to prove what kind of mental toughness and commitment we have as a group. We have some tough, hard-working guys and I could not be more excited to work with such a great staff and group of young men."

Taylor will fill the role as quarterbacks coach, with two new assistants joining the C of I staff – wide receivers coach, Chandler Jones, and linebackers coach, Austin Nelson.

Jones, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneer, comes to C of I after serving as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, San Jose State. As a player, he is the Spartans career leader in receptions (248) and touchdown receptions (31).

Nelson heads to C of I after coaching linebackers for three seasons at his alma mater, Division II Fort Lewis College – where he was recruited as a player by Coyote defensive coordinator, Chris Jewell.

C of I will open the 2020 season on Sept. 5 at Rocky Mountain – with the entire 2020 schedule to be released within the next week.
