Â
HOME STREAK EXTENDED: Saturday's win over Montana Tech extended the Yotes home win streak to six games – the fifth time a C of I team has won six or more games in a row on their own field. The Coyotes won 6-straight at home between 1949-50 and also between 1951-52, winning 8-straight between 1947-49 and a record 10-straight from 1952-54 – all part of a 10-year stretch where C of I posted a 39-4-1 mark at Hayman Field.
Â
WINNING SEASONS: C of I has clinched a winning season for the third-straight season and the 35th time in program history. It is the first time the Coyotes have recorded three-straight winning seasons since a string of four-straight winning seasons from 1951-54.
Â
6-WIN SEASONS: The win over Tech improved the Coyote record to 6-0 – the 17th time a C of I team has won six games in a season – and the third-straight season with six wins. The Yotes have won seven games in a season three times (1947, 1952, 1959), eight games in a season twice (1934, 1953) and a school-record nine games in 1948.
Â
ANOTHER WIN OVER A TOP-25 TEAM: C of I ran their win streak in games against Top-25 teams to six with the 16-14 victory over Montana Tech. The Yotes are now 11-20 all-time against Top-25 teams and are now 7-0 all-time playing as a Top-25 team.
Â
WHY THE DELAY?: Saturday's game was delayed by 45 minutes due to a thunderstorm that pounded Canyon County prior to the two teams taking the field for pregame warm-ups. Teams are to remain sheltered when lightning is detected within 10 miles of the venue within a 30 minute period – with lightning detected near Simplot Stadium for nearly 90 minutes – as teams did not take the field until 12:45 p.m.
