HAVRE, Mont. — The No. 4-ranked College of Idaho Yotes put together another dominant performance Saturday afternoon, piling up 624 yards of offense and forcing three interceptions in a convincing 59-14 road victory over Montana State-Northern at Havre.
 
The Yotes improved to 3-0 on the season, scoring touchdowns on eight of their first 11 possessions and never allowing the Lights to mount a serious challenge. College of Idaho led 14-0 after one quarter, stretched the margin to 42-14 by halftime and outscored MSU-Northern 17-0 in the second half.
 
Quarterback Caden Young continued his impressive start to the season, accounting for six total touchdowns. The senior completed 18-of-22 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns while adding 98 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.
 
Young opened the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown run before connecting with Travis Marieiro on touchdown receptions of 57 and 43 yards.
 
Marieiro finished with five receptions for a game-high 132 yards and two touchdowns, while Brown hauled in a touchdown catch and added three rushing yards. Jacob Morales added three catches for 39 yards and Brandon Smith contributed 33 receiving yards.
 
The Yotes showcased their depth in the running game, rushing for 267 yards on 44 carries. Young led the way with 98 yards, while Rylie Byington added 54 yards, Noah Burnham rushed for 53 and Ryken EchoHawk chipped in 31 yards and a touchdown.
 
After MSU-Northern briefly cut the deficit to 28-7 on a 75-yard run, the Yotes immediately answered with a three-play, 58-yard drive capped by Young's 43-yard touchdown pass to Marieiro. The visitors closed the half with another Young rushing touchdown and carried a 42-14 lead into the locker room.
 
Defensively, the Yotes were opportunistic all afternoon. Chase Brown paced the team with eight tackles, while the defense limited MSU-Northern to 257 total yards and just 88 rushing yards outside of its lone 75-yard touchdown run.
 
The Yotes recorded three interceptions, one each by Amari Bluford, Ryland Rush and Martel McKenzie. McKenzie's interception came early in the fourth quarter and set up a 93-yard scoring drive that ended with Rex Larson's 10-yard touchdown pass to Shane Runyeon.
 
The Yotes finished the day with 33 first downs, held the ball for more than 36 minutes and converted 11-of-15 third-down opportunities in another complete team performance.
 
College of Idaho returns home on Sept. 26 to play against Montana Tech. Kickoff is set for noon at Simplot Stadium, and fans are encouraged to wear white for the Yotes' Whiteout game.
