L-C State Takes Pair From Coyotes in Lewiston

LEWISTON, Idaho – Dalton Ridgway went 4-for-6 for the College of Idaho, the bright spot on the day, as Lewis-Clark State swept an NAIA West doubleheader from the Coyotes at Ed Cheff Stadium.

The No. 17 ranked Warriors (30-12, 17-7) recorded nine extra-base hits in a 13-3 victory in the early game and used an 8-run fifth inning for a 12-1 win in Game 2 – as both contests were ended by the 10-run rule in the seventh inning.

LCSC scored in all but the second inning in Game 1, as both J.J. Robinson and Brock Ephan hit home runs for the Warriors. L-C built an 8-0 lead before C of I (19-24, 12-14) got on the board in the fifth on a Dominic Conigliaro RBI single. Ridgway and Sam Grise added RBI singles in the sixth to pull the Coyotes within 9-3, but the hosts scored four times in the bottom of the inning to close out the win.

The Warriors led 2-0 through four innings of Game 2, but five walks, four hit by pitches, and four wild pitches aided LCSC – with Ephan blasting a grand slam homer to put the game away.

Conigliaro had three hits in Game 1 for the Yotes, with Ridgway and Grise each recording a pair of knocks; while Ridgway had C of I's only two hits in Game 2.

Ephan led LCSC with seven RBI in the twinbill – as Kevin Hamann fanned eight in the opener for the win, with Matt Fish walking six and striking out 10 in the Game 2 win.

The two teams close out the series tomorrow afternoon at Noon.
