LEWISTON, Idaho – College of Idaho had their opportunities in the series finale vs. Lewis-Clark State, but stranded 11 runners, including five in scoring position, as the Warriors completed a four-game sweep of the Yotes with a 4-0 victory at Ed Cheff Stadium.
The Coyotes (19-25, 12-15 NAIA West) left the bases loaded in the first and stranded men in scoring position in the third, fourth and seventh innings – unable to take advantage of five LCSC walks and a pair of hit by pitches. Three Warriors (31-12, 18-7) pitchers limited C of I to just four singles in the win.
L-C manufactured a run in the first as Seaver Whalen singled with two outs, stole second and scored on a J.J. Robinson single. Whalen would make it 2-0 in the fifth, driving in Raymond Pedrina with a sacrifice fly. The hosts would add an unearned run in the seventh, with Cooper Goldby knocking home an eighth inning run with a two-out double.
Devon Pogue had the lone multi-hit game for the Yotes, going 2-for-4, with starter
Riley O'Brien allowing two runs on four hits, fanning four, in five innings of work.
Pedrina had two hits for LCSC, with Rian Bassett earning the win with five shutout innings.
C of I returns home to close out the regular-season, hosting British Columbia in a four-game series. The set will be preceded by the completion of a suspended game from last month on Friday at 1 p.m.
