Box Score
PORTLAND, Ore. - Concordia University scored four goals in the first 18 minutes of the contest, as the No. 16 ranked Cavaliers rolled past The College of Idaho, 8-2, in a downpour at Hilken Community Stadium.
The eight goals allowed by the Yotes (1-7, 1-3 CCC) were the most surrendered in the 30-year history of the program, one more than the seven given up against Concordia in 1998 and Simon Fraser in 1999.
The Cavs (6-2, 3-1) jumped out of the gates quickly - as in the sixth minute, Ben Culpan took a pass from Septi Danciu down the left side and blasted a running 15-yard shot into the net. Less than three minutes later, CU extended the lead when Danciu crossed a ball to the top of the six-yard box, finding the head of Sam Carmichael.
Danciu got in the scoring act in the 13th minute, taking a Michael Chamberlain through-ball, using a nifty move in the box to make it 3-0. After Radciffe McDougald made it 4-0 on a penalty kick in the 18th minute, Chamberlain scored back-to-back goals, touching a Danciu feed into the net in the 27th minute, then heading home a Culpan cross in the 36th.
The Coyotes finally got on the board early in the second half, as Joao Cardoso played a free kick into the box, finding the foot of Tyler Lawton. Joe Bolin cut the margin to 6-2, getting a long ball through the middle from Yan Gioseffi in the 67th minute.
CU capped the scoring with two late goals - McDougald converting a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, and 26 seconds later, Chamberlain drove a low drive into the net on a feed from McDougald.
The Cavs held a 23-8 edge in total shots and had nine of the 10 corner kicks in the contest.
C of I returns home next week - meeting Corban on Tuesday and Evergreen on Saturday.
