PROVO, Utah — The College of Idaho track and field teams split squads for a pair of meets this week, closing out the regular season with strong performances at the BYU Robison Invitational and the Oregon State High Performance Meet ahead of next weekend's Cascade Conference Championships in La Grande, Oregon.
At the BYU Robison Invitational, the Yotes recorded four new program top-10 marks and six personal records, highlighted by a third-place finish in the men's 4x100-meter relay. The quartet of Tristin Veach, Trevor Treat, Cash Mckie and Kenyon Carter clocked a 41.73, good for No. 5 all-time in program history.
Individually, Carter delivered a standout all-around performance, placing fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.09) and third in the long jump (6.70m), while also improving his own No. 6 all-time mark in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.07.
Mckie led the Yotes in the 200 meters with a third-place finish and a time of 21.80, moving to No. 3 all-time at C of I. Veach followed with a sixth-place finish in 22.05, ranking No. 6 in program history, and added a fourth-place mark in the long jump (6.07m). Cody Sanchez also competed in the 200 meters, recording a time of 22.72 to rank No. 15 all-time.
In the field events, Logan Prince cleared 1.85 meters in the high jump to place seventh.
On the women's side in Provo, Kiriann Johnson led the way with a fifth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.47 meters.
A smaller group of Yotes competed at the Oregon State High Performance Meet, where distance runners turned in strong efforts. Kylee Quinton posted a time of 11:03.76 in the invitational section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Julia Gilbert recorded a 12-second personal best in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 17:42.54, a mark that ranks No. 32 in the NAIA this season.
The Yotes now turn their focus to the Cascade Conference Championships, set for next weekend in La Grande, as they look to build on late-season momentum.
