CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho has announced the hiring of Vincent Rhinehart as its new Director of Athletic Bands, elevating a familiar and impactful presence within the program into a leadership role. Rhinehart previously served on the band staff as the Director of Percussion.
Rhinehart has served as the College's Adjunct Percussion Instructor since August of 2021, where he has played a key role in the growth and development of the department's percussion program. During his tenure, he has more than tripled the size of the percussion studio, with his students going on to hold numerous performance and teaching roles throughout the Treasure Valley. Since his arrival, percussion has become one of the most prominent areas within the College's music department.
In his new role as Band Director, Rhinehart will continue to build upon that momentum, overseeing the College's marching and pep band programs while maintaining his influence in percussion education.
Through years of performance and teaching, Rhinehart has established himself as a respected and impactful presence in the Northwest percussion community. He founded the Idaho Percussion Academy in 2020, which has quickly grown into one of the state's premier private percussion studios. Since 2020, he has also served as the Percussion Director at Meridian High School, in addition to teaching at several programs across the region, including Borah High School, Mountain Home High School, Weiser High School, Emporia High School (Kan.), Springfield High School (Ore.), and South Eugene High School (Ore.).
A native Idahoan, Rhinehart was raised in Fruitland and remains deeply connected to the community. He currently resides in Meridian with his wife, daughter, and two dogs. In March of 2020, he was elected President of the Idaho Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. Rhinehart also maintains professional endorsements with Vic Firth, Zildjian, Evans, Black Swamp Percussion, and Beetle Percussion.
