Johnson Earns Program's First GSAC Postseason Award

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho women's tennis team earned major recognition from the Great Southwest Athletic Conference, as Alyssa Johnson was named GSAC Freshman of the Year and Lina Boylan received All-Conference honors for the 2026 season.

The awards were announced at the GSAC Championship banquet, hosted by Arizona Christian, ahead of this week's conference tournament.

Johnson put together a strong debut campaign for the Yotes, finishing with a combined 6-10 singles record in dual play while competing across multiple spots in the lineup. The freshman earned wins at both the No. 4 and No. 6 positions and showed steady growth throughout the season. In doubles, Johnson added valuable contributions with multiple partners, picking up wins alongside Berkley Klarich and Kinsey Lockhart to showcase her versatility. She is the first Yote in program history to earn a GSAC Postseason Award since joining the conference in 2024.

Boylan earned All-Conference honors after leading the Yotes with a 6-8 singles record, competing primarily in the top half of the lineup. She was especially effective at the No. 3 position, posting a 3-0 record, while also adding a win at No. 4. In doubles, Boylan was a consistent presence, compiling an 8-7 overall record, including a strong 7-5 mark with Kinsey Lockhart.

The duo has played a key role in The College of Idaho's efforts throughout the season, helping the Yotes compete against a challenging schedule and build momentum heading into postseason play.

The 2026 GSAC Women's Tennis Championship is set for April 23–25 at Paseo Racquet Club, with six teams competing for the conference crown. The Yotes enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will open play Thursday against No. 5 seed OUAZ at 11 a.m. PT.

Top-seeded Lewis-Clark State and No. 2 seed Stanton headline the bracket, while No. 3 seed Arizona Christian faces No. 6 seed Northern New Mexico in the other first-round matchup. Semifinal matches are scheduled for Friday, with the championship match set for Saturday at 10 a.m. PT.

The tournament will be played in a single-elimination format, with the winner earning the conference's automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships.
