SURPRISE, Ariz. - Fueled by a desire to send its seniors out on top, the College of Idaho closed the regular season with its first GSAC win, defeating Ottawa University Arizona 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
With Senior Day setting the tone, the Yotes came out energized and locked in, sweeping all three doubles matches to take early control. Berkley Klarich and Adele Long started the momentum at No. 3, followed by Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran at No. 2, before seniors Lina Boylan and Kinsey Lockhart capped the sweep in the top spot.
That same energy carried into singles, where every point felt amplified by the team's focus on competing for Boylan, Lockhart and Tran in their final regular-season match. Alyssa Johnson gave the Yotes an early edge, but after Ottawa battled back to take a late lead, the match came down to grit and determination.
Ljuba delivered a crucial straight-set win to even the score, setting the stage for Tran. In fitting fashion, the senior battled through a three-set thriller at No. 5, clinching the team victory and igniting a celebration that reflected just how much the moment meant.
The win marked a hard-fought breakthrough in GSAC play and a meaningful sendoff, as the Yotes rallied together to honor their seniors with a statement performance.
