CALDWELL, Idaho - Returning to Simplot for the first time this year, the No. 10 Yotes poured in 28 goals against the visiting Pacific Lutheran Lutes.The Yotes also held strong defensively to earn a shutout in the 28-0 win.
Goals came early and often for the Yotes. They scored 11 goals in the first quarter to put the game well out of hand early.
Nate Badger and
Logan Bjornethun both scored 4 goals. Bjornethun aso contributed a pair of assists to score six points.
Trevor Shoopman dished out four assists on top of his hattrick to earn a game high seven points.
Wyatt Neu facilitated the offense to earn four assists and scored two goals himself. 12 different players from C of I scored a goal.
Defensively, the Yotes stopped everything the Lutes tried before it could develop. The defense didn't even allow a shot on goal to make
Brogan Rice's and
Xavier Street's day in net a quiet one.
Zac Shoopman spearheaded the Yotes defense by causing four turnovers and nabbing nine groundballs.
Jack Williamson also caused two turnovers.
Noah Geise was tremendous in face off. He won 86% of the time from the face off X.Â
Next up for the Yotes is RV University of Denver on February 27th as part of the Dillon Plumbing Classic held at Simplot Stadium. Face off is scheduled for 4:30 PM MT.
