CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho track and field teams split squads between the Battle Born Classic in Reno at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Mountain State Games in Pocatello hosted by the Idaho State University, producing a standout weekend highlighted by a freshman setting a new indoor school record and two NAIA "B" national qualifying marks. In total, the Yotes added 13 new entries to the program's all-time top-10 lists and recorded 16 personal records.
Freshman thrower Helene Rae delivered the headline performance by breaking the indoor school record in the women's shot put with a 13.98-meter throw. The effort secured an NAIA "B" qualifying mark and currently places her sixth nationally, marking one of the strongest early-season performances in program history. The team's second national qualifying mark came from Kylee Quinton, who hit the NAIA "B" standard in the 800 meters with a converted 2:15.50, a time that ranks third in program history and 17th in the NAIA. Quinton also added a converted 5:07.49 in the mile, the eighth-best mark in school history and 22nd nationally. Stella Gray recorded another top-10 result with the No. 5 all-time shot put mark at 12.91 meters, while Mattie Shirts tied for seventh in the high jump at 1.49 meters.
On the men's side, the Yotes produced all-time marks across several events. Oclan Ryan earned two new top-10 performances with a converted 1:55.90 in the 800 meters and 4:15.19 in the mile. Isaac Edwards added the No. 5 all-time 800 mark with a converted 1:56.67. Distance runner Collin De Julio continued his strong season by running a converted 4:12.56 mile, which ranks No. 5 in program history and No. 21 in the NAIA, along with a converted 14:50.28 in the 5,000, the No. 3 time in school history and 24th nationally. Isaac Anttonen added the No. 8 all-time mark in the 3,000 with a converted 8:37.17.
The men's throwers also turned in a strong weekend, with Keenan Blair and Reed Martin moving to No. 3 and No. 4 on the program's all-time shot put list after throws of 15.74 meters and 15.03 meters. Lucas Midgett placed sixth in the weight throw at 15.81 meters, followed by Tyson Terry in seventh at 15.51. Rounding out the top-eight finishes, Kenyon Carter placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles and Logan Prince finished third in the high jump at 1.90 meters.
