Freshmen Fuel Big Weekend for Yotes at UI Meet

MOSCOW, Idaho – The College of Idaho track and field team turned in a strong three-day showing at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial, hosted by the University of Idaho, posting 21 new program top 10 marks and 75 personal records against a deep field of regional competition.

The Yotes distance group led the way on the men's side, highlighted by Collin De Julio's runner-up finish in the mile (4:17.01), which ranks seventh all-time at C of I and currently sits 16th in the NAIA. De Julio added a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meters (8:26.54), good for third all-time in school history and ninth in the NAIA rankings. Oclan Ryan recorded two top-10 program marks, placing fifth in both the 1,000 meters (2:33.51) and the mile (4:18.37), while Freshman Isaac Edwards finished second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:32.64.

Freshman Kenyon Carter made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut, finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.43. The performance ranks second all-time in program history and marked Carter's first competition as a Yote.

In the combined events, Trevor Treat impressed in his first career multi, placing fifth in the heptathlon with 4,310 points. After competing primarily in sprints and hurdles during his freshman campaign last season, Treat's debut in the multi ranks eighth all-time in program history and currently sits 22nd in the NAIA. He also recorded top-10 program marks in the 60 meters and 60-meter hurdles during the meet.

Additional men's top-10 performances came from Reed Martin in the shot put, Tristin Veach in the pole vault, Amari Bluford and Nolan Mead in the horizontal jumps, and Logan Prince with a fourth-place clearance in the high jump.

On the women's side, Julia Gilbert highlighted the weekend by improving her own ninth all-time program mark in the mile, finishing fourth in 5:09.45, a time that currently ranks 15th in the NAIA. Gilbert also placed fifth in the 3,000 meters. Kiely Munson added two program top-10 marks with finishes in the 800 meters (2:21.62) and 1,000 meters (3:03.88), while Josie Patton recorded the seventh-fastest 1,000-meter time in school history.

Freshman Helene Rae continued her upward trajectory in the throws, building on strong performances from December with a fifth-place finish in the shot put (13.14m). The mark ranks third all-time in program history and currently sits 13th in the NAIA, while she also recorded a ninth all-time mark in the weight throw.

Abigail Williams added a third all-time program mark in the pole vault, while Mattie Shirts and Stella Gray contributed solid efforts in the high jump and shot put, respectively.

The Yotes will look to build on the momentum from Moscow as they continue the indoor season with multiple athletes climbing the program's all-time lists and moving into national consideration.
