Yotes Deliver National Marks, School Record in Strong Split-Meet Weekend

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho track and field teams put together a standout performance over the weekend, splitting between the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco and the Whitworth Peace Meet in Spokane. The Yotes tallied 29 new Cascade Conference qualifying marks, while earning 6 NAIA national qualifying marks, setting a school record, and adding 19 new top-10 program marks and 58 personal bests.

Record-Breaking Night in San Francisco

Leading the way at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, Daniel Butler shattered the school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:39.86, placing second overall and earning an NAIA "A" qualifying mark. He currently ranks second in the nation.

Fellow Yotes Hayden Bostrom (30:32.82), Elias Everist (30:36.09), and Cyress Wilson (30:46.63) each notched NAIA "B" qualifying marks, moving up to fourth, fifth, and sixth on the school's all-time list, respectively. Brevin Vaughan also hit a conference standard in 31:51.80.

In the women's 10K, Molly Connor ran 37:32.79 to become the sixth-fastest in program history and now sits eighth in the NAIA. Julia Gilbert followed with a conference mark of 38:12.72 (14th in the country).

Whitworth Peace Meet Highlights Depth, Emerging Talent

At the Whitworth Peace Meet, the Yotes notched 21 conference qualifying marks, highlighted by national performances and strong showings across all event groups.

On the women's side, Kahea Figueira continued her breakout season, running 4:34.46 in the 1500 to finish second, earn an NAIA "B" mark, and claim the fifth-fastest time in school history. She currently ranks sixth nationally. Charlotte Bowman ran 57.53 in the 400 for a conference qualifier, fifth all-time at C of I, and 14th nationally.

Bowman, along with Zoe Butler, Kylee Quinton, and Isis Villafane, led the 4x400m relay to a third-place finish in 3:56.31, the seventh-fastest time in school history and currently ninth in the country. The 4x100m relay (48.39) was the program's fastest season-opening April time ever.

In the throws, Star Herron landed a 51.81m mark in the hammer to hit the NAIA "B" standard, placing second and ranking fifth nationally. Ashley Sheirbon also posted a conference qualifier in the event.

On the men's side, the throwing group turned in a solid weekend. Wesley Leathers hit a conference qualifying mark in the shot put with a throw of 12.25m, continuing his steady progression. In the jumps, Logan Prince cleared 1.91m in the high jump to improve his own sixth all-time mark.

In the sprint relays, the quartet of Tanner Macy, Dylan Wolfe, Jeremiah Chukwudobe, and Chris Shakespeare ran 41.63 in the 4x100m—second-fastest in program history, and only the second team ever to dip under 42 seconds.

Wolfe also posted strong individual performances, improving his sixth all-time 200m mark (22.12) and moving to fourth all-time in the 400m (49.35). Jonah Sowell climbed to 10th all-time in the 200 and ninth in the 400, while Ashton Drage ran 9:45.31 in the steeplechase to move to eighth on the all-time list.

In distance events, Casey Crumley, Easton Utz, and Isaac Anttonen all posted conference qualifiers in the 10,000m, finishing in the top eight.

With conference and national marks piling up, the Yotes showed their range, from sprints and distance to relays and field events, as they continue their push toward the Cascade Conference Championships and NAIA Nationals.
