Yotes Bring the Heat and the Hardware at CCC Championships

ASHLAND, Ore. — Powered by record-breaking performances and a sweep of long-distance podiums, the College of Idaho men's and women's track and field teams each earned runner-up finishes at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships, capping a historic two-day showing that included 13 all-conference honors on Saturday alone.

Graduate Student Charlotte Bowman headlined the final day with a stunning victory in the women's 100 meters, clocking 11.60 seconds to break the CCC meet record, set a new school record, and secure an NAIA "A" qualifying mark. She later added a third-place finish in the 200 meters and anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a second-place finish alongside Zoe Butler, Kylee Quinton, and Isis Villafane. Bowman's standout weekend earned her the CCC Female Track Performer of the Year award.

Quinton delivered again with a runner-up finish in the 800 meters, hitting the NAIA "A" standard with a time of 2:11.20, now ranked 10th in the nation. Kahea Figueira added a title in the 5,000 meters, while throwers and jumpers contributed key points, including top-three finishes from Stella Gray (shot put), Kaylee Wuest (discus), and Mattie Shirts (triple jump).

The women totaled 161 points, finishing second behind powerhouse UBC (239), with EOU rounding out the top three at 125.5.

On the men's side, the Yotes secured their highest finish in program history with 163.5 points, behind only EOU (203). Daniel Butler doubled up on gold, winning the 5,000 meters on Saturday after claiming the 1,500 title on Friday. Braden Heath followed up his Day One steeplechase school record with a fifth-place finish in the 5,000, while Dylan Wolfe, Jonah Sowell, Trevor Treat, and Zach Curtsinger closed the meet with a dramatic third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, breaking the school record in 3:16.04 and becoming the first C of I men's 4x400 team to qualify for nationals.

Throwers again played a key role as Keenan Blair earned all-conference honors in the shot put and Tanner Sackman took second in the discus. Patxi Franks added depth with top-five finishes in both events.

Over the two-day meet, the Yotes combined for:

  • 24 All-Conference honors

  • 3 NAIA "A" qualifying marks

  • 1 NAIA "B" qualifying mark

  • 3 school records

  • 19 new marks in the program's all-time top 10

  • 35 personal bests

With momentum heading into the national championships, C of I has firmly established itself among the Cascade Conference elite.
