AZUSA, Calif. – The College of Idaho women's tennis team fought through a competitive stretch in California, facing Great Southwest Athletic Conference opponents in a week-long road trip.
The Yotes opened the trip with their closest match of the season on Tuesday, narrowly falling 4-3 to Hope International. In doubles play, Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran secured a dominant 6-1 win, while the other two doubles matches resulted in hard-fought 7-5 and 6-3 losses. Ljuba carried her momentum into singles, earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 1 position. Adele Long and Tran added to the Yotes' point total with identical wins at No. 3 and No. 4, each taking their matches 6-2, 6-4.
On Thursday, the team traveled to Azusa Pacific University for a neutral-site matchup against Ottawa University of Arizona, where OUAZ clinched a 4-0 victory to conclude the contest.
Returning to Azusa on Friday, the Yotes faced Arizona Christian in another neutral-site matchup. The doubles competition remained tight, with Berkley Klarich and Alden Long posting a 6-3 win, but a 7-6 loss at the No. 1 spot proved decisive. In singles play, Ljuba secured a hard-fought win at No. 2, while Adele Long cruised to a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
The Yotes return to Idaho and will prepare for home matches on April 4 and 6.
