EUGENE, Ore. – The College of Idaho Yotes made their mark at Hayward Field over the weekend, posting standout performances at the 2025 Oregon Preview. Several athletes secured national qualifying marks, school records fell, and early-season milestones were hit.
Senior Charlotte Bowman continued her electric start to the season, winning the 100 meters in 11.99 seconds—her second straight sub-12 performance after becoming the first Yote to break the barrier last weekend. She also came within milliseconds of breaking the school record in the 200 meters, placing seventh with a time of 24.98 seconds.
On the distance side, Daniel Butler punched his ticket to nationals, hitting the NAIA A standard in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:21.36, good for fifth place. Kahea Figueira (17:05.39) and Kylee Quinton (11:14.78, steeplechase) each hit NAIA B standards, finishing fourth in their respective events. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Alexis Thrall, Dakota Bussen, Allison Horsley, and Isis Villafane placed fifth in 4:05.67.
The Yotes' throwers delivered as well, led by Star Herron, who placed ninth in the hammer throw (45.99m/150'11") and 10th in the shot put (11.98m/39'3.75"). Taylor Durfey added a 14th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.05m (36'3").
For the men's squad, Ashton Drage secured a fourth-place finish in the 2,000-meter steeplechase (6:10.60), while Brevin Vaughan placed second in the 5,000-meter Division 2 race (14:46.81).
In the field, Keenan Blair took fourth in the shot put (15.88m/52'1.25"), while Tanner Sackman recorded his earliest 50-meter hammer throw of the season, placing ninth with a toss of 50.63m (166'1"), a distance he typically reaches later in the year.
The Yotes will be back in action next weekend as their outdoor season continues.
