CALDWELL, Idaho - Facing the stiffest competition this season so far for the Yotes Lacrosse (3-0), they defeated the Arizona Christian Univ. Firestorm 8-5.
The Firestorm struck first early in the first to put the Yotes on their heals. However the Yotes refused to lay down and quickly knotted the score up and ended the frame 1-1. The Yotes defense anchored by
Max Anderson (4 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers) and
Kale Brunmeier (4 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers) kept the second quarter goalless for the Firestorm while the Yotes offense pounced scoring another pair of goals to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
The third quarter the Yotes offense turned it up and scored five goals to put the game out of reach.
Wyatt Neu had a career day scoring four goals from eight shots in the contest. He also led the Yotes with ground balls by picking up five on the afternoon.
Grayson Flatten led the Yotes in points with four assists and a goal.
Alex Ozuna also had a strong offensive stick by powering past two goals and assisting on another.
Jacob Wong was a brick wall in goal. He saved 75% of the 15 shots he faced to ensure victory. As a team, the Yotes outshout the visitors 46-21.
Next up for the Yotes is a road trip to face University of Puget Sound on March 7th. First faceoff is scheduled for 7pm MT.
