BOISE, Idaho – The College of Idaho women's tennis team split their weekend matches at Boise State, falling to NCAA Division I opponent Boise State 7-0 on Friday before bouncing back with a dominant 6-1 victory over NCAA Division III Linfield on Saturday.
Against Boise State, the Yotes faced a tough challenge, dropping all singles and doubles matches. However, the duo of Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran managed to take a few points off their Division I opponents in doubles play. Adele Long led the Yotes in singles competition, scoring the most points for the team.
The Yotes responded in commanding fashion against Linfield, securing their first win of the season. They swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, with Ljuba and Tran winning at the No. 1 spot, Berkley Klarich and Long at No. 2, and Lizzy Sagehorn and Alissa Rautenberg at No. 3.
In singles action, the Yotes took five of six matches. Long (No. 2), Klarich (No. 3), Tran (No. 4), Riley Cordova (No. 5), and Rautenberg (No. 6) all secured victories. Sagehorn delivered the most dominant performance of the day, shutting out her opponent without conceding a single point.
The win marked a key milestone for the Yotes as they look to build momentum for the rest of the season.
