POCATELLO, Idaho — The College of Idaho women's tennis team put up a fight against NCAA Division I opponent Idaho State but ultimately fell in a tough match on Saturday.
The Bengals secured the doubles point, but not without a battle at the No. 1 spot, where Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran fought through the longest and most competitive match before falling 6-3.
In singles play, Ljuba continued to push at the No. 1 position, taking her opponent deep into the first set before narrowly dropping it 7-5. Idaho State took control in the second set to claim the match, 7-5, 6-0. Berkley Klarich, Adele Long, and Tran each earned points during their respective matches, showing resilience against a strong Division I opponent.
The Yotes will look to bounce back next weekend when they hit the road to face their first NAIA opponent of the season, Lewis-Clark State.
